What are prices doing in your areas for bred cows. Decent commercial cows.
Just curious.

Cows I wouldn't have in my pasture were bringing 1500 at the sale last Sat. half way decent cow's were up to 2000.
I didn't see a cow I would have bid on and I have bought a lot of cow's through the salebarn over the years.
Lot of the cow's looked like they came out of JSC's country down south and wintered hard. Most looked like they were seeing a human for the second or third time in their life.
There are no good cow's going through the barn right now here no one is turning loose of them and a lot of guys are hanging on to heifers. I would really like to know how many cow's were in this area before this three year drought started and how many are left today. It's not many looking in pastures that used to be full.
My hay supplier came by and bought two black baldie heifers for 1200 a piece at weaning in Oct.

I have only been to a few sales and ISO is on the money for this area. A fully prepared business case analysis I saw yesterday supports buying cows at current prices. Amazing. It sure makes you think twice about selling heifers.

here the cows going back to the farm are $900 to $2000.an as CB most arnt fit to go back to the farm.my nephew in law has bought back a few cows giving up to $900 for them.but most of them being open cows needing grass.he has a cheap brangus bull running on them.

We are getting to the end of calving season so there haven't been a lot of breds moving through. But $1,000 to 1,400 will buy most. The funny one is that pairs haven't been much more. I don't know about other people but I would prefer to have a pair with a six week old calf than a bred cow who is six weeks from calving and bred to ????

I just read the Meridian report. It is a small sale but there were only 291 total head pass thru on Tuesday. No replacement cows even offered for sale. Maybe they'll truck in out of state culls again like they did following the last drought. Steer and heifer pricing has fallen off even more this week.
