I was looking through old photos and ran across a cow that was out of one of our Jersey cows. The sire was a V8 bred bull and the dam was a registered Jersey cow. She was a good cow.

The calf was out of a Belgian Blue bull.

Have you got pics of the calf as it got older, would be very interesting to see how he developed.

I have pictures but can't get to them. They are on a hard drive that my computer will not recognize.
He ended up being delicious! Nice size roasts and steaks.

More about the cow. We purchased the sire's semen from Select Sires. He was chosen because he was a low birth weight bull. The cow's mother was a daughter of Gramhill Leader Sophia Samson. He was a tremendous Jersey bull producing a larger than average cow. Sophie was a big and tall Jersey weighing 1000 lbs. She was bred to both Jersey and Brahman bulls and never had any calving problems.

We do not own a bull. All of our cattle are bred AI by my husband. It is cheaper for us to buy semen and maintain a tank than keep and feed a bull. It gives us a wide variety of bulls to choose from.

Here is a picture of her sire:

Lol no, that was sarcasm. If you already forgot, I'm a proponent of using lbw brahman bulls as a calving ease option.

This is being sarcastic?

I'd love to have some. If you'll notice I commented on her Brahma/jersey cow.

I know enough about cattle to know jersey have the smallest pelvic area of any modern breed. As low of bw as Jerseys have, they're only half the equation. Again, with all this talk about huge brahman bws, I'm still in amazement she was able to have a live calf. Must have been a phenomenon . . . . .

You are such a fake.

Texasbred was referring to Massey's remarks in a dairy thread about my cow (the post I quoted).

Massey is very good at contradicting himself to cover his a$$.

NO ...you were just wrong. You had no idea what you were talking about...I refer you back to your comments over on the dairy thread jerk. On that thread the topic was not about the brahman. It wa about the jersey !!!!!
