First picture is the bull out of the daughter of the black Brahma cow we call high pockets .. The second bull is out of high pockets . So grandson , and son . Both 6-7 months old . Hate to think when we sell them they will be steered . They would do someone a great job . Folks around here avoid ear in their bulls . Tempted to keep one and use later . First one 3/4 angus , second 1/2 . But both still show the Brahma influence.

They are nice bulls but I would not use a bull to bread with that much sheath. It will pretty much doom your calves to a price hit and it will keep carrying through your herd if you keep replacements. The goal is to have Brahman influence with as clean of a look as possible. That is, imo, an above average amount for 1/4 and 1/2 Brahman.

Better off using a Simmental to get your growth and don't suffer from the ears at all. Lol.
Down here where we are, ears don't hurt at all. Black Simm, Chi-Angus,SImmAngus all work just as well if they are homo for black. Or yuur cows are. Fr real growth, you can beat Charolais, but the dock for the smokie or yellow calves eats up that extra weight money. I know of three operations with homo for black cows, that are using red Charolais this time. All of their calves will be black using the red Char bulls.

The bad part is, it's hard to say. I'm assuming that is some kind of Brangus type bull. When he mixes with more mixed cows some may be some what clean and some may be bad. That's the problem with composite bulls on crossbred cows, way too many variables. When you use a pure Angus, Hereford, etc you can stabilize at least one side.

He is better than some I have seenbut you never know what will come out of the woodpile.
