I was wondering if anyone on here's operation is run on BQA standards and guidelines? I want to know how it has affected your business, both good or bad? To you think every operation should be ran under BQA guidelines? Give me your input and experiences you have had with BQA.

I'm BQA certified. That and 65 cents would get me a canned drink. The protocols are things we are all probably doing anyway.

Correct. Not certified but went through the training and that's how we do things.

I just spent the last 30 minutes getting certified BQA cow/calf it got a coupon code and it did not cost me a thing. I don't expect it to change any thing.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
There are a lot of good practices included in it. Good for people getting started out and as a refresher for others. I'm Not sure about other states, but in Tennessee if you are BQA certified, you are eligible for grants to use towards improving facilities and genetics. That alone made it worth the time and cost of it for me.

bureaucrat :bs: .

That was point in getting certified. Anyone can get a certificate by just answering a few questions. A Good cattlemen does the things that are considered Best practices anyway.
I can see where a person that has never been around animals before could use the information.

So the certification is not much more than "official" recognition of being a "good" producer vs being a "bad" producer.
The coyotes, snakes, and buzzards need to look into a similar sort of certificate.

Doesn;t even mean that. All it means is you got the certificate, doesn;t mean that you apply the standards.

Exactly- I did not even watch the videos and just answered the questions. if you miss one you go back into it and retry until you get it right. I did not print the certificate as it is useless IMO.

Never heard of it till today them twice in one day
Someone seems to be promoting it

Question from Rachel Paddock
I have a question I was hoping you could answer. Do you know what the requirements are to get BQA (beef quality aserence) certified in oklahoma

I think most of us are all doing things pretty decently, shots don't get put in the prime meat areas, they have clean water and food, and yadda yadda.

If you're getting BQA certified so you can get grants, you have no business complaining about people wanting handouts, obama, etc... Same goes for all the other bullshyte grants (mowing your field from the inside or whatnot).. That's just me though,

The Canadian Celiac Society may offer that grant depending on if you harvest your grass based on lunar tables or not

You're creep feeding your grass fed beef and saying it's for turkeys.

Lets not confuse the issue with facts. I'm providing a valuable service by selling a fuzzy feel-good feeling and its sustainable and that's all that matters. Oh and BTW, I define sustainable as a new fool being born every day.

Dun, if the old saying about the truth hurts is true then your comment could hurt my feelings. :lol2:

I'm TQA certified, so I guess i'm the resident expert on hauling livestock.
Had to be PQA certified too........longest 6 hours of my life!
If BQA is anything like either one of those, then I'm guessing a city slicker with a dimes worth of commonsense about animals could pass it.
