Bought a calf---Wrong weight?

I sold a calf yesterday. I had it for exactly 46 days. Bought it 270 lbs sold it at 595 lbs. No way the thing gained over 7 pounds a day. One weight or the other was wrong. Bought and sold at two different yards. I do sort of an mig with my horses. As soon as I move the horses, I come right behind them with 3 calves. The horses favor some spots more than others, and the calves clean off what the horses don't eat. When the calves move off that lot I spray with 2 4d. The game had run its course, because I need to stockpile from now till fall. There is no way I'm confused on how long I've had them.

It didn't really dawn on me till tonight. I guess there is no way to even find, much less correct the mistake. It wasn't exactly a jewel of a calf. Just a red neck steer. I feel silly that if the weight was off that much at purchase, I should have noticed it. I had 3 calves all running together. Two black motley faces bought together, and this redneck. The motley faces ended up not growing real good. I sold some odds and ends yesterday, and I was sitting around playing with the stub. I lost almost $300 on a herd bull, that I hadn't owned but about 4 months. I guess karma gets you one way or the other.

I don't want to partner on the losers just the winners
Tell you what we can do
We go halves on the next bunch and instead of me sending you a check for my half you just hold my half out for the purchase after we sell them and mail me my half of the profit
That way if its a losing deal then I won't take part :D
 
Partners only works for me in a three legged race. I found my check where I paid for the bull. I hate not getting checks back anymore, and having to look on line. I owned him 7 months not 4. Either way $300 is $300.

With your memory your liable to forget to send me my half
Seriously 300 is plenty good even at owning him 7 months
 
Charlois, supposed to pick him up later this month. Also going to pick up a CT member along the way for a ride along. He helped me find the bulls.
 
There hard to find where I'm at. I looked hard back in late winter, and early February. I had to settle on an angus, and a black Gelbvieh. I'm looking forward to getting this one home.
