Bottle Calf Question

This is our first set of calves, when I got them they appeared to have scours. Acted fine but stools were a little runny. So I purchased the save a calf from TS and it said to mix the bag into 50lb back of milk replacer, which I have done. However the feed reccomendations on the back of the save a calf bag seem really low. For a 100lb calve it says 2qts daily. 8oz of MR/Save a Calf mix to 2qts of water. That puts it at 1qt per feeding. Am I reading something wrong or is it just so concentrated that that's all they need. Just doesn't seem like enough fluid.

Just looking for reccomendations. The calves appear fine now 4 days in, plenty of energy and healthy looking, just don't feel like I'm feeding them enough.

All the Milk Replacer I've used calls for 2 qt. twice a day. Do not use cheap replacer. Get milk replacer made from milk. I have not used that scours medicine, I don't know how good it is.
Re read your directions, I'll bet it calls for 2 qt. twice a day.

The Sav A Calf products I know of say 6.4 oz mixed in 2 quarts of water per feeding
feed 2 - 3 times per day depending on scour severity

This is what I have. Everythings identical but the feeding instructions on my bag are completely differnet compared to what this bag says

I cant post a picture of mine but reading directly off the bag it says

"Feed the resulting type C medicated mike replacer poweder as a complete ration by mixing powder into warm water as directed below. Feed to provide 1000mg of oxytetracycline and 1000mg of neomycin base for ceah 100 lbs of calf body weight DAILY"

Chart says 100lbs = 2qts water to 10oz powder (neo & oxy provided 1000g/1000g)

The link I posted above had the same except it specifies twice daily but mine just says daily....

I just compared the active ingredients in that one I posted the link to and mine which look to be identical just the wording of the doseing is different. So I think I will switch to 10oz and 2 qts.

Well after upping it to 2qts per calf at this mornings feeding I went out to them this afternoon and noticed they were scouring again. They had not had any symptoms for about the last 3 days or so, but once I increased the feeding amount by this afternoon they did.

Was it just coincidental or would increasing the amount of feeding cause that and it should take care of its self? I gave electrolytes tonight.

I'm not a certified expert, but, have you changed any baby's diapers lately? They don't exactly lay solid logs, I think it's pretty normal.

Ok, I think you just read so much about scours and death that at the first sign of diarrhea I get a little worried. If all sounds normal to you then Im a happy man.

If it isn;t squirting out a foot behind them I wouldn;t worry about it. Also depends on the color and consistency. More liquid intake frequently leads to more runny stools.
