I was out with the cows tonight.. giving them some fly spray... I have most the the heifers tamed.. as it was getting dark I thought.. Hmm.. I I haven't seen 273 nor her calf.. but I did see a cow off a ways, and I'd assumed she was getting a drink.. but didn't see her come back.. and then I heard that cow moo, and she was off in a swampy area of 7ft high grass.. figured I better go look, and meanwhile I texted Clint, the owner of the cow and caretaker of mine.. He's getting ready to come (cows are 15 minutes from his place) with gum boots and flashlights

So I go looking for the cow now.. finally find her off by herself on a high spot above the swamp.. no calf.. it's getting pretty dang close to dark.. she looks around, I look around, she's not the brightest cow around, but I started to go in one direction on a cow trail and she followed, so I kinda let her lead, and she goes up to this absolute thicket of hawthorns (I'd rather battle them than swamp).. there's a little hole in the thicket, I look in, and there's the dumbass calf, high centered on a horizontal branch, too #$%#$$ stupid to jump over it.. I startled her enough she jumped and came out.

Momma was happy, calf is fine, but that could have ended badly, and without momma's help I'd have never found it.. wonder if buzzards would have even found it

This is the hole in the thicket
