Bloaty cow

I've got a cow out on a patch that's got quite a bit of clover in it. She was a little bloaty the other afternoon. Got her up and tube her to try to let it off. I got a little gas off her but not a lot. She was stilled swelled up some. She was squirting a green streak and belching though. I checked her the next morning and she was back to normal, same this morning. Have you all seen certain cows get bloaty, and it be a normal occurrence for them over time? I had been told that once a calf bloated, better move him, becaused he'd do it again.

Yeah I get it from time to time. As long as they aren't laid out and are still mobile I don't worry about them.

Put out a little hay with some stem to it and they'll handle clover just fine. I HAVE noticed that the same cattle do it more frequently to the point of seeing it by breed/sire groups.
I have a neighbor that has some irrigated pastures below a dam that he used to pen his heifers on to grow them up but he swears they gain much better if he leaves the gate open and gives them access to the dry feed on the hill in addition to the irrigated pasture and I swear he's right. You'll see them go up and get a little fill of dry stuff in the morning and then go to the green stuff late morning and then again late afternoon and they grow like crazy that way.

I'll set them a bale out. I just figured they wouldn't touch it with all that clover available

I have always put out bloat blocks with my clover. Don't know how well they work, except that I have never had a case of bloat.
