have a 200lb calf has been bloating this week. tubed three times thought it was grain stopped feed and gave more hay, did not work, tried mineral oil still did not help any ideas?

Is he pooping? Have you had the vet check him out, maybe listen to gut?

Some are just chronic bloaters.

Depending on how much grain you were feeding, you can cause more problems by abruptly stopping the grain.

Where the heck is Milk Maid when you need her?

I know this sounds weird but we had a 12 month old bull calf that was bloating he was kicking his stomach and down. I called the vet and he said to give him baking soda. I thought this was crazy but my husband wasn't home and so it was about the only thing I could do by myself since he was already down, I shoved a handful of it in his mouth as best I could and in a few minutes I was able to get him up I kept him walking and about an hour later he was fine. His stomach went down. Vet though the pellets we were feeding him caused it. So we changed feeds never bloated again.

Sprinkling a little dry laundry soap on the feed helps sometimes.

Cuts down on the surface tension and bubbles in the gut.

had to tube her sat, sun, and mon last time gave her a tube of medicine for no bactrie in the rumen if does not work will try baking soda. thanks for all of the help

Some are chronic bloaters... sell it when/if you can get it to weaning weight... do not retain this animal.

Once a bloater, always a bloater... it's genetic makeup may not let it process food like the others in the herd.
