Here are some pictures of the heifer that was bloated last night. Un/fortuneately, none of them show her bloated, as I was too busy last night to get any photos. But you can see how sweated up she was, and you can see the spot that we punctured.

As you can see, she is really quiet. She didn't get up til I poked her in the butt. If you look on her left side you can see the spot.

Here she is with her baby. Pretty nice calf. Weighed 66 lbs at birth.

And here is a close up of the spot that we punctured.

Well, we figured out what caused the problem. It was the new hay bale. After we put it in, she bloated, the 4-H steer has gone off his grain, and th Milk cow has upped her production. Got 8 L(quarts) out of her this morning. Usually only get between 4-6. And that doesn't include what the calf is eating.

She is out of that pen now, no longer getting any grain either. But she looks a better today.

Victoria, I am very impressed with that calf. She is 'supposed' to be Shorthorn x Red Angus, although to me she looks pretty much Red Angus. The calf is sired by Red Angus.

Great news that you figured out what it was that was causing the bloating. Too bad it was the bale, hope you don't have a lot of them like that.

She does look Red Angus. I like the pair of them. Good disposition on that cow, that saved her life. At least it doesn't look like that nice calf will be an orphan!
