Hello, I am sort of new to the cattle business. Several months back , I purchased some cattle. A couple of the cows already had their calves and they seemed healthy. This morning I found one of the heifer calves dead. There were no marks on it,to suggest it being attacked, it just had blood from its mouth.
Can anyone tell me what could have caused it's death? Also I forgot to mention one or two of the cattle and calves had a cough. I thought it was due to the grain I fed them or some type of grass or weed in the fields.
I appreciate your input.

Have you asked a veterinarian yet?

Possibilities from afar are too numerous to mention.

Fight, stepped on. rolled on. chased and so on.

Post mortem might keep you from losing more.

Otherwise - if you have live stock, you will have dead stock.

And life goes on.
