I think I am in love.
Savage Model 10ML - a muzzle loader that uses modern smokeless powder!
Here's the model I picked out - http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/mode ... 0II%20Camo

Here is a review - http://www.gunblast.com/SavageML10.htm
Apparently can shoot sub MOA and more energy at 300 yards than a .454 Casull at the muzzle!

Anyone have one or have any info on them, before I part with my greenbacks?

That looks like a fine smoke pole for sure ALX. But way too pricey for my wallet.
Should be easy maintenance not using black powder.

Might want to check the legality of using a ML without blackpowder or a substitute.
Back when they first came out I had a customer that bought one to hunt colorado and it turned out he couldn;t use it with smokeless there

Looking into that dun, cool thing is you can load her up with BP any time and be pretty confident she'll handle a hot BP load. I like the inlines and I am loving what I am hearing about the Savage trigger.

A fella that worked for Savage on this gun blew one up a couple years ago while developing loads. He wasn't using a pressure meter??? Finding out as much as I can on the internet about that.Neat look inside the gun industry. Not worried about the safety aspect at all except for double loading it.The load the guy blew one up with would have exceeded 300 Win Mag pressures.

Hey Cal, looks like I am gonna have to cut back the beer budget for a year or so. :o
When you look at it, just a few hundred bucks more than the extra barrel I was looking at. Besides you ignited a muzzle loader interest in me ya bugger! :help: :D

MUZZLE-LOADER:

A muzzle-loader is a gun that is loaded through the muzzle. A percussion muzzle-loading gun is considered to be loaded if there is a charge of powder and a projectile in the barrel and a percussion cap on the nipple. A flintlock muzzle-loading gun is considered to be loaded if there is a charge of powder and a projectile in the barrel and the vent is unplugged.

Interesting definition ( our Natural Resources Ministry ), not loaded if no primer - I like it.
Still looking good.
Did you like the "AccuTrigger" dun?

The Accutrigger was hard to believe and was revolutionary. I've never tried a Jewel but compared to Canjar and Timney it was as good, also easier to adjust. All of the other companys have now come up with their own versions to compete with it.

Thanks dun.

In all my recent research into slugs and ML for deer I have really had my head turned by Savage.
Not only did they create some of the finest levers in NA, and calibres ( 300 Sav - say something bad about it! ) but they are still cutting edge on the "fringe" markets, and embrace/create new technology.
Great American Company if you ask me.

I couldn;t agree more. It's a shame that they aren;t more highly thought of by the general gun buying public. If the did away with the headspacing with the locknut I think they would be better recvd, but then the price would alos have to be higher.
The 99 (especailly in 250 Savage) with the brass cartridge counter is still on my wish list.
First deer I ever killed was with a 99 that had started out as a 300 and was rechanbered to 308

As I delve deeper it seems the Cabelas and Bass Pro people will tell us what we need to be buying!

So, what could possibly motivate someone to rechamber to 308 from 300 Sav?

Sorry bout that ALX,but boy howdy, when I got the fever for a inline it hit hard.
Looks like ya did get the inline fever also. And as you know there's only one cure.

The wife hasen't said anything yet. I'm thinking that's bad though.

Back in the 60s the 308 was being touted as the greatest thing since sliced bread and the 300 as being too puny. I got it cheap probably because it had been rechambered. Was a little balky feeding the longer round, but it still worked ok
