In my operation baldy's are bred back to an angus.

Hereford x Angus baldys are bred back to either Gelbvieh or Simmenthal. Simmenthal x Angus baldys are bred to Polled Hereford

Agree with rbb. Baldy cow are versatile use bull of choice and calves should do good. At least in this area.

i have been breeding them back to angus ,but would like to add some height.at first i was going to use brangus but could not stand the reduction at the sale barn.i am now leaning toward sim-angus .

What about breeding them to a charolais bull? What kind of calves you looking at with that cross? Smoke with white face?

The way i go about it is, if the baldies are hereford/brangus i will breed them to a angus and if they are angus/hereford a use a brangus on them. And for me most of the time a charolais will make gray baldies.

Why would you use a crossbred bull on crossbred cows cowski??

i would like the calves to stay half angus.i have used charolais but i always get some rattails and too many gray calves.

There is other breeds besides Charolais.
