Uh, I found something interesting on the ground today. Our grass is really tall and this just happened to be in a bare patch at the bottom of a ditch. Never actually found one before. I figured you all, if anyone, would like to see it so brought it home, cut it up and took pictures?!
It's very hard and dry, odor free. You can see the green cheerio band and also our cat checking it out...
We band the first day a calf is born. It seems to take 6-8 weeks for the sac to fall off. You can see the two nuts inside. The inside is hard, like petrified wood.
Uh, okay, back to the field you go.
