Here's another truck that I hold close to my heart. It's a 1978 Autocar 'Construcktor', and I loved that old girl. Cummins 400 bigcam2 in that old girl with an 8LL. It was a good off road truck but a 13 spd or an 18spd would have been much better.

I never thought I would like the 8ll very much, but the more I drive ours the more I like it.

To me, the deep reduction gears just aren't necessary. Unless you've got a really underpowered truck. I know they are heavy and more expensive, but an 18 spd. is the way to go in my opinion.

Here's my loads
a 3 ton water tanker truck
Don't have a picture uploaded, but I hauled a D3 dozer on the same trailer.. d@mn that was a hard pull coming up at 12% grade with washboard... REAL SLOW was the ticket... 2nd in low range and pretty much idled.. you bounce over that washboard and somethings going to break, and going backward down it isn't going to be too fun. Figured there were 12 ton behind the truck, and that was a bumper pull (*cough* rated for 10,000 lbs)
Also hauled about 80 20ft 8"x8" bridge timbers on the same trailer as well, wasn't quite that kind of weight though
