What has been your best water for winter energy free…currently have 2 cobetts that have been working ok except for today when I wanted to move to a different place to feed for winter and the one cobett is frozen solid…have no experience with tire waters and haven't seen many around my area…I don't care if I have to chip a little ice when it's -20 like it's been for the last few days

@BEJ, I use continuous flow tire tanks. I have used the Cobett style, but they don't have enough capacity if you have quite a few head. The continuous flow doesn't need to be alot to keep them working... I put a 1/8" needle valve in the tank that I open only as much as necessary. Keeps the tank open all winter. You need to have an overflow to take the continuous flow away without creating an ice flow around the waterer, I pull mine off into my field tile. I know some guys that are up closer to you that are using these too... near Paynesville. I can get you their contact info so you could go take a look if you wanted. Message me, and I'll send that to you.

Building some of these in a couple weeks as Im tired of tank heaters. Our OK winters not nearly what you folks deal with but it does freeze up.

The other option is the freeze miser, basically the same concept but its above the water line.
