Best book on beef cattle from start to finish??

depending on your level of experience and what you want out of the book, Storey's Guide to Beef cattle is a very good beginners book, but there isn't much detail if you need more advanced information. I have a Australian book that is very good, but can't remember the name, if you are interested I can look it up for you.

I agree on Stockmans Handbook, have never been able to find it in a shop though, the local library has a very old copy, I think it dates from somewhere in the fifties

Not sure about the author, but the book looks as if it could be the same book. The one in the library's cover don't look the same, but it could well be a much earlier edition.

The new high dollar one is 1991. The others used are 1978 I think. See the other post - I think they're the same. Powell's is a reputable bookseller for old and antique books. I'm sure they'd ship to you, Knersie.

Thanks, that is a great link, I can see myself spending some money, I love antique books.

I never even saw there were actually three copies, I never looked further than the $123.35. Multiply by 6.79 add international shipping and it costs more than i am willing to pay, but I'll probably order one of the other two.

Morrison's "Feeds and Feeding".

Gives almost every nutritional situation for cattle and dairy animals. Forage and grain.

I've got a 1941 model and it's still current.

Yeah, We love the old /antique books too. The $123 is a bit pricey for me - and I don't have to pay int'l shipping. I just like to browse the site sometimes.

IF you like information overload, I have the 'Alabama Beef Handbook' ANR-600 though I believe it is no longer in print.
