What in some of your opinion is the best alternative or replacer of corn in a complete feed ration.

I agree soy hulls or a soy hull/corn gluten pellet blend. We use the blend to supplement both cows and stockers.

We use barley to replace some of the corn in our ration

I usually feed barley, it's usually cheap ($110/ton), noticed the other day the the price has gone up to $165/ton. I'm going to probably feed wheat and peas this year. Good thing that I don't have to grain too many calves this winter.
