What is all the hub bub about new rules with the Beefmaster breed? I have seen a lot of upset folks on FB about new color rules in a BM group, but I cannot find the rules posted on the BM website.
I don't think that is the rule I am talking about.greybeard":dfjafd6k said:Someone on FB is upset? :cry2: :lol2:

Well, there's a new one. Whudda thunk?
Mad because fluffy cow isn't invited to BBA and JBBA events?
"All BBU registered animals must be shown with their hair coats lying downward and flat
against their entire body. Hair trimming is permissible and must be done in those few areas
such as the neck and portions of the topline of the animal which may not lay flat against the
body. Hair may not be trained upwards or forwards and/or pulled upwards or forwards on
any part of the animal’s body. No animals may have any foreign object(s) attached to it in
any manner or have its natural color altered in a manner so as to change the conformation
or appearance. An exhibitor who fails to abide by this rule will be dismissed from the arena
and/or forfeit premiums, awards and points from the show"
They were upset that paints, mottles and such were to be bred out, to red or black. I think.

I have not heard of such. Goes against everything T. Lassiter envisioned with his (only) 6 essential traits.
States right on BBU's website too.
MISSION STATEMENT
BBU's Mission is to enhance breeders’ ability to raise and promote cattle
based upon the founding “Six Essentials: Disposition, Fertility, Weight,
Conformation, Hardiness and Milk Production.”
The hot topics for the field day involved discussion on rebuilding the cow herd after a drought and marketing feeder calves. University of Missouri Regional Livestock Specialist Andy McCorkill and Tom “Tonto” Kissee Jr., of Springfield Livestock Marketing Center led the discussions. Both gentleman shared that when marketing cattle in today’s market it is important to market uniformity through marketing non-paint colored and healthy cattle in order to receive a premium.
“A valuable piece of information I learned from the field day is that the main reason Beefmaster cattle get docked at the auction barns here in the mid-west is because of color, more specifically spots and paints. Kissee said if we would concentrate on making our cattle either solid red or solid black it would benefit us financially,” said Davin Vaughn, a Beefmaster breeder from Mount Vernon, Mo.

Do you have a link for the rules?

well all that will end.when a bunch start selecting and breeding for solid color..personally I've never been crazy over the paints but I sure hate to see solid colors take away all that was worked for to get them to what they are..great cow..greybeard":gtob42jf said:They were upset that paints, mottles and such were to be bred out, to red or black.
