Beef quality

Hey guys and gals, I have six, 5 yr old limflex cows that I am thinking about AIing, I will be using this offspring strictly for finishing out and butchering if they make the cut. The offspring will be weaned at around 7 months, then turned out on oat and wheat pasture then penned up and put on full ration for the last 80dys. If my main goal was to get the highest quality beef, which breed would be the best to AI to? Thanks guys for the help, merry christmas.

1) Hereford
2) Murray Grey
3) Angus
4) Wagyu

Murray Grey all the way as long as it is well muscled.

Breed her to a Limousin or breed her to a limflex.

Breed them to a calving ease angus with huge GeneStar numbers for tenderness and quality grade, and
a sire known for "great disposition". The relaxed lazy ones taste best, IMO.

I recall reading Wagyu takes much longer to finish and is really a whole separate undertaking - not likely to finish according to your schedule. I know nothing about Murray Greys. Look good and muscular. I would be afraid to try a complete unknown without some firsthand experience in your OK climate and feed system. Choice between Hereford and Angus might be affected on how important attitude is to you.

Personally it looks to me like a Limo/Hereford cross is a real nice fast growing beef steer. I have a Limo/Hereford cross cow who when bred to a Hereford bull always seems to have my biggest, highest percent of dam weight, fastest maturing calf. jmho. Jim

I was going to try some a couple of years ago and that is the same conclusion I arrived at but I did read where some crosses did make some good gains in one study. (think it was charl x wag) I got cold feet so I never tried it.

I have tried this and breed with limousi and it worked great .
