Curious to what beef prices are like in your local grocery, supermarket, etc.

Local store in middle Tn. had (Ribeye for $14 a pd.) (tenderloin for $16 a pd.) (T-bone for $12 a pd.) that is all I remember. It was advertised as 100% Angus.

Looking at some local grocery store flyer:

Cube Steak 2.99
Center cut chuck roast 2.49
Boneless shoulder roast 2.99
T-bones 4.98
Boneless london broil 2.48
Ground chuck 1.89
Top sirloin 5.49
Brisket 2.99
Sirloin tops 3.29

Man, if those prices are by the pd. then my area is off the charts!

Those prices are about the same as here. But the angus beef is about double the other beef!! Kroger has both of the "varieties".

The beef prices I posted were 100% Angus from Kroger.

These are prices by the pound from a regional store. We also have Kroger and they are a lot higher, Walmart is a lot higher than this too.

The local meat markets are about the same as what was posted. Just keep looking around for the sale prices. Never pay full price at the grocery store!

I saw a flashing sign at the local Harvey's grocery store:

New York Strip Steaks : $3.99 per pound.

I bet that is some high quality New York strip---NOT!

Actually, Harvey's has some of the best store bought beef that you can buy around our area. They cut and grind on site in each store, have some decent butchers, and the meat is pretty good! It's not as good as my homegrown, but then nothing else is that good either.

If I run out and must buy beef at the grocery store, it's always bought from Harvey's.

Dang TB that i didn't no that low grade Limi beef was that high. Of couarse i been eating it for years and have grown to like it real well. Just not well done. ;-) ;-)
