Can anyone relate to my case? 300 to 400 # calves that for past 10 weeks have been going down, another one went down today, Reg. Vet said 3 years ago history of AD deficiency, has been doing AD in. and placing on food, calf seems sensitive in rear hoof, has 3-4 calf crawling around. Cattle are about the age of 4-12 mo old. Calf #1+#2 were in the same pen. Calf #1 can get up or used to get up on front but couldn't stand and had a temperature 103 reluctant to rise. Calf #2 just crawls around and can't stand both eat drink and defecate normally. Calf #2 crawls mostly; maybe trauma was on w/larger steers. Calf #3 just started not using hind limb (today). Steer #4 walks on front knees, feet bad likely b/c of walking on knees. Steer #4 is about 2-2 1/2 years old. Heifer #5 about 1 1/2 years old. The back feet stiff difficulty walking. Calf #6 is about 6 months old and has been down for several weeks. It will get up and then go back down. On exam b/h has pressure sore on hocks. Owner feeds grain shelled/ground corn, Supplement soybean/brewers grain and hay. 2 other calves had a temperature 103-104 deg. Fahrenheit with difficulty breathing. Owner said in about 4 weeks calf in pen w/bigger ones found down after a few days in pen. Then a few days later another went down. Owner said when Dr. A gave BoSe 3ml/100# AD Vitamin 1ml/100#, calves seemed to do better within 3-4 weeks. Then calves started to get up then go down, then progressively got worse and were down for several weeks. O gave Sulfa + Terrymycin for fever. Calves seem to be eating and manure fairly normal.-ad per Dr. S
2/1-2/06 Dr. S spoke with Dr. G from another Vet. Clinic about case last evening and today and then spoke w/O and got authorization for Chemistry test and Selenium on 2 steers #2 and #6 sent #6 out and did #2 chemistry test in office. Dr.G said possibly Ca/Phos. Deficiency w/rickets (big joints) but said not often have fever, Low Ca at young age have weak bones and get back trauma's easier; Johne's/BVD and don’t necessarily have diarrhea until late in Disease and only a few seen in herd; Se/Vit E mostly in milk calves; Trauma. Other poss. include Hemophelous TME, Listeria, Bots, Ca def.

2/15 Owner came in and said there was improvement after using BoSe but the effects were short lasting like ~2wks.
Would anyone have any suggestions or possibility of other differentials?
