Can anyone tell me on here just what good are bears?
They dont have any predators besides humans. They eat food sources that human being could eat. (fish, berries, etc)
So I ask again.. what good are they?

Bears are their own biggest predator. Old boars will kill and eat cubs if they can. Overall they don't eat a lot of fish. Just the limited few that happen to live in area with big fish runs. You just see lots of those pictures because that is one dependable place that you can get pictures of them.
What they are good for is keeping wondering tourists on their toes. In fact a few good bear stories and the majority of the tourists will stay completely out of the woods, which is a good thing.

Bears are worse up here than the feral hogs are down South.
You ought to see the damage they can do to a corn field.

They make good burrito meat.

How do you cook it? We had one die while eating honey from the bee hives and we cleaned and cooked it. It was the greasiest mess I ever laid my teeth to. Gave it to some convicts, figured they would like it better than the PBJ sandwiches. They wouldn't eat it either. Granted, we didn't know what we were doing and still don't.

They keep tourists out of my back pasture-we have tons of bears up here and they don't bother much at all. Bear backstrap is pretty darn tasty for sure.

The state is restocking them in the river bottom just what I need bears and hogs.

Your just afraid they might eat your pet piggies!

CB, unlike your pigs, you will hardly know the bears are there. The ONLY damage I know of from bears on cow farms around here is one bear who torn plastic off haylage bales.

no worries caustic, the relocated bears will just wind up in town in the tree by cracker barrel.
