thanks giving, is it?

on the nationally declared day of thanksgiving whom would have time
to look at "cattle today?" i look infrequently now, but did today.

my child bride recently had two surgeries. (some ignorant or uninitiated would say 'minor' surgery
as long as it is not their surgery.) peace and rest and quiet are required. so on this day of
family and food we sit quietly. i fed wife's chickens and her other-four legged creatures. i moved a load
of cubes for the next time i venture out. nothing exciting at all.

no family or visitors are allowed for a period. eating alone, we had none of the traditional meal.
believable or not, just pizza from the
freezer. wife sits quietly watching her football games between naps.

so is this to give thanks for. absolutely. all is good now and will improve shortly.
hope everyone else had a day to be thankful for.

Prayers for you and your wife, @MACVSOG . Today was one of the most thankful Thanksgivings I have had in a long time. I was very grateful to get a break from the 24/7 job caretaking my mom, that I have had since May. It was a beautiful day...the horses did great...the dogs worked flawlessly... we limited out on the first 3 coveys...and got done in time to run the beagles this evening, Everyone got at least 1 rabbit. Scott's wife cooked some of them up for us , and I just got done with a great supper of fried quail, rabbit, biscuits, gravy, and mashed potatoes. It looks like the pheasants are thriving and reproducing , but we didn't take any. Don't think we will until maybe next season. No migratory doves on the field, and no migratory ducks or geese on the ponds yet....just resident doves ducks and geese. I guess the routes may have shifted this year. All told, God has been good to us again this year.
I kinda dread going back Saturday night. :)

hunting, animals, friends; sounds like you had a bodacious day.

once upon a time i thought i would never have a time when a did
not bring in a few deer in hunting season. surprise me, it has now been over
50 years since i fired my deer rifle. last i looked the rifle had rust and
the sling had rotted. there it will stay. life changes things.

another random thought.

years ago i was ordering something, do not recall what. it was before the
prolificity of the internet; neither website, nor email, nor ebay. amazing how we used
the phone number in the magazine ad to make contdact. before i digress
too much i made contact with the salesperson and placed my order. before
ending the call i asked if he was located in texas. he was not but in georgia.
i replied that he sounded just like he was from north texas. he replied that
he had never been to texas, but his georgia location and my texas location were almost due east/west of each
other. does that cause a similarity of speech?
dunno. that is a nonsense story, but interesting only to me.

a foregone conclusion that we miss a lot by just relying on the internet.
