was talking to friend this morning,an he told me about a well known reg holstein breeder in texas dieing.said he was mixing a 15 ton batch of TMR feed.an he was on the platform adding the sq bales.an the twine got caught around his foot an drugg him in the big grinder.he said the mixer ran for 2hrs before he was found.he would ground up an mixed into the feed.they had to auger the feed out an find as much of him as they could.TB i bet you know the old dairymen im talking about.

Goodness, what a horrible way to die. I feel so sorry for his family.

When I hear stuff like that I think of my Uncle Doug out in the weather working cows, feeding... He is getting close to eighty now. You can't get him to slow own.

That is just awful, never a nice time but just before Christmas...What a horrid and painful way to go....You all take care out there around the farm, and machinery. God Rest his soul and may God look down on his family and give them a little peace at this sad time. They are in my prayers tonight.

Bull they can get a man before he knows it. Hate to hear that awful news. Only accident I ever had was with one without a cover over the pto shaft...Mexican boy stepped over it wearing a rain coat and it grabbed it...literally undressed him right down to his drawers and beat him up pretty bad...only got a broken wrist but a world of bumps, bruises and skinned up places. Sued me for over $600,000 bucks.... ended up settling for $8,000...lawyer probably got half that. Should have just pitched him back in the mixer. :lol2:

There was a boy drilling holes with his grandpa right after I moved to Austin that lived in Leander and got hung up one Saturday morning. He almost bled out before they got him to Austin. It was soon after that we got " Star Flight" Ag work is still the most dangerous profession in american last time I checked....

The insurance guy who I dealt with when I lost my fingers(to a pto accident that didn't involve stupidity) told me that about two weeks earlier someone had hired a hippie with dreadlocks down to his waist and was paying him cash to do tractor work. When he broke the shear pin on the pto shaft on the mower, he got off and bent over to figure out why the mower wasn't mowing... That spinning pto shaft grabbed him by the hair and beat him to death. Survival of the fitest in action.

So it was smart to lose your fingers? Had ZZ top beard years ago and it got hung around a drill press, Thank the Lord I grabbed the chuck and the belt started slipping.

hand drill I was putting up a curtain pole and the drill got caught in the net curtains and spun around my wrist and broke it, that was painful but I still have all my fingers and toes thankfully. I don't use the machinery now, as I don't trust myself, what with the arthritis in my hands.

No but there was no way that I could have seen it coming as I'd done everything right. I'd do it the same way again in the same situation and I'm alot more careful now. So guess which imaginary finger I'm holding up in your direction now :D .

Feel bad for everyone involved. Bet there was a CID after that one. (Critical Incedent Debriefing)
im sure there was,esp since they had to dump 10 tons or so of feed on the ground an go through it for the remains.
