Ohio State's back in for sure, but who's the other team gonna be? I wanted to see Ohio State-Mizzou, but now I'd have to give the nod to LSU, even though I don't particularly like them. Lot's of teams can make a good case and, no matter what, lot's of teams are going to be ticked off in the end. What a wacky season!

P.S. I still say an 8 team playoff is in order.

I agree, wacky fun season for everyone but the #1 and #2 ranked teams. It's been fun. I agree with your thoughts about Ohio St. and LSU may be the best of them all. But Georgia has snuck under my radar and may end up #2 this week. I think USC, Okalahoma, and LSU all have a fair argument on deserving a shot at the title, but not enough gas to get to the top with their recent wins.
I haven't seen much of Georgia this year, I really don't have an opinion on how good they are. But I don't think Kansas, Missouri, West Virgina and Virgina Tech are championship caliber. (JMO).

This year would be one of the best arguments ever for a playoff system. I agree that an 8 team playoff is the way to go, but I'm sure 9 and 10 would complain, but it would be much better than it is now. The only team that I see may not get in the mythical 8 team playoff that should is Hawaii, 12-0 and maybe the best bunch of recievers and QB in the nation (Behind Tebow). They have two strikes against them, WAC and 6 hours behind the mighty east coast bias.

Just my thoughts,

Go Ducks......

I think Georgia should get a shot. They improved as the season wore on and are a good team at present.

Seasonal Improvement is my mark of a good team.

How about them Fightin' Illini? They will be in the hunt next year, and I hear they might play Auburn in a bowl game this year!

"Offense" is for the fans,,,,,,,,"Defense" wins championships!

If not for a couple of plays here and there, we'd be in the hunt this year. Of course there's probably 10 or 15 teams that can say the same thing. ;-) Word here is we're going to the Capital One bowl to play Florida or Auburn, but who knows for sure?

Just looked into Geogia, I heard on the news they finished 3rd in their conference. A third place in conference doesn't deserve a National Championship shot.... Even if Nebraska finished 2nd in 2001 and played Miami for the title  , should have to be a conference champion.

The embarrassing thing about the BCS series is that it shows up our major universities as "really clueless".

A Bowl is a chance to take your alumni to a warm place and pump them for money.

A playoff (ala the basketball playoffs) is a chance to reap billions.

The current BCS is just a poll. Do we decide the President of the US on polls? Heck no--we play the game.

Georgia is probably better than the SEC champion and the highest ranked SEC team. They could wax Ohio State now.

U mean the BSC championship...
a joke.. pure and simple.
Playoff is the only way to settle it. And with all the big money being made because of the bowls. ... its not going to happen anytime soon.

Easy fix, with an 8 team playoff you have 7 games, you could use the current bowl games for the play off game, alternating bowls each season. Win the the Sugar and advance to the Rose bowl.

Eventually, money will muscle the Bowls out of the way.
Trade 4 games from the current schedule for a 32 team playoff. Most BCS schools spend at least 4 games on "directional" opponents.
TV will bid billions to show these games and you will have a "win or go home" attitude. That is what drives the NCAA basketball tourney AND the NFL playoffs. The two most successful shows on TV.
The Bowls are promotions for warm-weather cities. The Rose Bowl and its' TV contract had a huge influence on the growth in LA. Universities in the snow belt can offer alumni a winter vacation in a sunny spot where the U can pump said alumni for cash.

My team :( is going to the freaking MOTOR CITY bowl. No disrespect, but Detroit, MI in Dec is not my idea of a vacation. I will still give my traditional $5, but I'm not making vacation plans.

all we had to do was beat Tenn. shoulda woulda coulda. ESPN kept takling about USC and UGA as the hottest teams right now until Sat games were over, they were then singing a different tune. I think LSU will probably beat OSU. there will be enough time for LSU to heal from a tough season.

I used to think a playoff system was needed, until I really thought about it. The way it is now, although extremely flawed, is better for the fans than playoffs. The current BCS system, every week matters so much to each team, a win or loss could determine their fate for the entire season. If there were playoffs, one, two, or even 3 losses would be no big deal because as long as the top team still makes the playoffs, all is good. As a fan, I think its much more exciting knowing that each game can decide the entire season, and that makes each game that much more exciting. With playoffs, we would just have the Jr NFL, and I am not an NFL fan. I agree though, there are big problems with the BCS that need to get fixed, but playoffs are not the answer.

How can you say a 2 or 3 loss season would NOT be a big deal? I think every college team strives each season to go winless.
Jr NFL?? well, every college sport whether its NAIA, division 2, .. has a playoff.
