My neighbor runs about 400 mother cows and probably twice that many stocker cattle. His heard is mostly black today, but over the years he has tried many different breeds. About 10 - 15 years ago he bought out a herd of 20 or 30 bred Barzona cows. All I remember about them is the red color and that they jumped fences like a herd of deer. They would come and go from my place whenever they felt like it. They traveled for miles from ranch to ranch. They were so wild, I was never really able to get close enough to get a real good look at them. Eventually he caught most of them and others disappeared. He shipped any he could catch. I am not sure if this is representative of the breed, but it sure scared me off from of ever owning one.
