Banding Calves via Lucky's Tet Protocol

Lucky, I am using your Tet protocols - I am banding at about day seven. I give both Antitoxin and toxoid at banding. I will follow in about 30 days with the second toxoid. I don't remember if that is exactly as you suggested but certainly moving in your direction.

I still see some flaws in the protocols I use. For example, if the necrosis occurs after the antitoxin wears off, I wonder if the toxoid titer is adequate to protect the calf until the second shot. Seems there is a window of risk until the second toxoid is administered. Right?

I don't know exactly how long TAT lasts in a bovine, but you'll probably be fine.

Cr@zy-@zz horse people all the time just give a TAT every time ol' Nelly gets a cut or steps on a nail - and most get along fine; granted, they might not have contracted tetanus anyway... but they might have.
