Banamine Pour on. I've used it one time for a lame first calf heifer I had and it made a remarkable difference. This was an animal so lame she refused to walk and had to be driven to the barn by me brandishing a whip. She had a swollen ankle that felt hot. I confined her to the barn and applied the pour on. Within 2 hours she was remarkably better and was completely sound in 5 days. Yet the instructions say to use only once and not for close up cows. And not for female cattle over 20 month of age or for dry cows. I have read on cattle today about people using it more than once or not more than three times because it can cause ulcers. I'd just like to get my 14 year old pet cow some relief from pain while her foot is healing, not long term. She's hobbling lame. I ordered a 250ml bottle from ValleyVet. How do you think I should use it? How long does it take for a dose to wear off? Thank you.

It should last around 48 hours. Would lean toward stretching it to 72 hours before a second application. If treating a calf pneumonia case, I will re-dose at 48 hours if their body temp spikes to around 103.8 or higher.

Last I looked the literature didn't really say anything about it. I just use sparingly. I don't think it is a solution for long term pain relief, but I really don't know.

I'll ask the ValleyVet vet. She uses meloxicam on her cows and has advised me on it. She said give her 30 pills melox for 5 days then 20 pills a day as needed. I bet she knows about Banamine pour on.
