I have an old upright forklift with a 3 point hitch I use on the rear of my tractor.I am thinking of taking off the forks and putting a bale spear on for moving and stacking hay.Has anyone got any suggestions.

sounds like that would work.but id make sure i had a strong spear on it.an that the bale couldnt fall on you when lifted to the full hight.

I am kinda thinking about just getting a regular 3 point hitch spear and welding fittings on to attatch it to the frame with the forks off. One thing I have found so far is to leave the small wheels on the lift on the ground when raising it up. I really need a bucket on the front but till then.......

And it is a good idea to have a hydraulic cylinder for a top link for tilting.

I have built one of these, the forks slide off and I mounted a plate on the mast plate and then welded 2 small spears on bottom and one big one in center. Works great uncle has been using it for yrs and yes it goes up and down and tilts.
