I'm looking for someone to explain the math for me to balance my ration for ground-ear-corn and a 30% supplement. I am looking at a total of 2000 lbs. I figure my corn at ~ 6 to 7%. I want to end up with a bal. of/close to 12%. I'm sure there is a useable equation to do this but don't know where to find it.

To balance a ration with only 2 ingredients you can set up the equation as:

(X lbs of corn * 7%) + (2000 - X lbs of supp * 30%) = (2000 lbs x 12%)

.07x + 600 -.3x = 240
-.23x = -360
x = 1565 lbs.

1565 lbs. of corn
434 lbs. of supplement
