About noon today I was headed home from church. Going from Baker City to Durkee there are two roads, I-84 or old Highway 30. They run right next to each other. In fact Highway 30 was the road through here before they built the Interstate. The next roads to the North or South will get you there but it will take about 2 hours or more. I was taking old highway 30 because it saves me about 4 miles. I round a corner and the entire road ditch to ditch was closed off by cows headed my way. I figure there was around 300-350 pairs. The calves in the rear were fairly small and not moving real fast so I ended up parked for nearly half an hour. At the rear of this procession was one of my neighbors, his daughter, and a hired man on horse back. There was also one of his sons on a quad and 5 or 6 dogs. Every traffic jam I have been in here in Baker County has been just like this.
