Hi All-
I have a 3 yo cow that is much thinner than the rest and I have noticed her standing with her mouth open and her jaw to one side. As if she has something in her mouth or a bad tooth? The jaw goes back where it should be, she eats & all seems fine. I have only had her since May and have noticed this over the last month, and getting more frequent. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

I have a vet appt for tomorrow am.

You said she eats and all seems fine, yet she's thinner than the others. I'm with you...I'd bet there's a mouth problem there. Whether it's a bad tooth...who knows...but I'd bet there's something going on in the mouth or jaw that's causing her pain.

I'd really appreciate it if you'd get back and tell us what the vet says. :)

Vet was out today & found that some of her baby teeth have just fallen out (she's 3) and the adult teeth are just starting to break through. Should have already been in. May or may not come in properly. She also has a small sore on her gums near where the adult teeth should be- just from eating. No abscess or anything horrible. She just needs some TLC & we will see how they come in. May be a genetic thing, or not- we will see.

Thank you for the update. It's nice to learn this kind of thing.

Alice :)
