Bad News This Morning

I got a phone call from the son of a friend when I was on my way to work this morning letting me know his father had just passed away. He had surgery a few weeks ago, but he was home and recovering well, with a good prognosis, so it was unexpected.

We've been friends since the 1960's, and I'll never have a better one. I'm pretty messed up.

They will. We had a lot of good times together, and somehow lived through all of them, until now.

Sorry to hear of your lose. I lost my best friend hunting and fishing partner three years ago. We had been friends since int mid 60's. So I know your pain.

My condolences. This sort of thing rips a jagged hole in the heart that only time can smooth the edges of. But the hole will always be there.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost a dear friend a few years back,and I still miss him. He was a the type of friend everyone would want by their side. I pray for peace for you,and hold onto your memories.

Thanks, and I'm trying, but I haven't been hit this hard since my father died in 2007.

I always go with a line in the end of Hemingway's For Whom the Bell tolls. The main character tells his lady love to "remember me and I will be there." I have some specific places where I make it a point to remember certain people and the times we shared at that place. Not easy at first but it gets easier and more special as time marches on.
