Backup camera

I have this one. They no longer make it, but included the link to show how the camera is actually wireless and I can move it wherever I want. I use a magnet to place it on my cab when hooking up a gooseneck, or my license plate when hooking up a bumper pull. Then I can attach it to the camper license plate when pulling it. It's a huge help when hooking up alone. When looking at them, a lot of what they call wireless are only wireless from camera to display. You still have to hard wire the camera. Make sure the camera itself is wireless.

I've got a couple wired cameras on equipment my complaint no matter the brand is the cameras tend to get condensation in the lenses over time.

I've also got a wireless battery powered Auto Vox unit with a magnet for the camera that is super handy. The camera has held up well but it also spends most of its life inside.

I just looked up auto vox camera on Amazon. There are several to choose from. Some are completely wireless. No wires at all. Some have rechargeable batteries that can be plugged in to charge or solar. Magnetic camera attachment. I did see one said up to 320ft signal range through trailers and such. That may be something to consider as I didn’t think of that. Look to be 100-200 bucks depending on what you want. I don’t know squat about that brand, but it might give a good start on options anyway.

A backup camera huh. Thats so yesterday. Get one that has the birds eye view. The wifes new Tahoe has this and it took me a while to understand how they get the shot.

I'd like to find OEM quality cameras someplace. On cars and equipment the factory stuff seems to hold up well.

This is what seems to happen to all aftermarket cameras I have after a year or two in the elements.

I remember about 10 years ago I was ay a car dealership. The salesman proudly said all of our model now come with back up cameras. I asked, what did they stop making mirrors? Wife's car we bought last summer is the first one I have drove that has a back up camera. When I do drive it I still use the mirrors.

Considering your take on most advances in technology I can hardly believe you’ve actually adopted the internal combustion engine…. 🤣

Mostly it is what a person is use to using. There is 4 assorted pickups here. The newest one is a 2002 and 3 of the 4 are plain Jane models. No back up cameras. No cruise control. I do look at the camera occasionally. But mostly I look at the mirrors because that is what I have been doing for nearly 60 years.
