I finally got everything approved from my insurance, and I am good to go on Thursday. They are going to fuse a disk back in place and remove some bone spurs that are messing with my nerves. Worst part is being in the hospital and being stuck in Houston for a week I am not a fan of big cites. Hopefully this fixes my back. and I can get back to my ranch work got kinda behind this year just didn't feel like doing much. A bad back sure takes a lot out of you especially when the sciatic nerve pain keeps me up late a lot of nights like tonight.

Good luck, I passed on the back surgery and just eat percocet and vicodin

Went through a similar thing, though no fusion. For now I’m just taking Dun’s route, but I’m just prolonging the inevitable, another surgery. Best advice I can give is to fight any urges you get that make you think you can get right back to your normal routine. Within two weeks I was back to my weekend fishing excursions, hopping on and off boats, carrying five gallon buckets of bait, sleeping on cots…. And within 8 months I was in another surgeon’s office, looking at MRI images of a newly herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, arthritis….. Sitting around the house is brutal for someone used to being outside always doing something. But if I could do it again, I’d have spent at least 6 weeks doing very little. I’m paying for it now.

Our problem is we have to work to eat. It's hard to lay around and take it easy, unless your talking on your free phone. Seems like a bunch of farmers and ranchers have bad backs.

Hope all goes well and you're up and about quickly. Don't worry about Houston. You won't remember much of it if you're lucky.

I understand that sciatic nerve pain.

Best of luck to you. I'll say a prayer for you and the your sugical team.

Allow yourself the proper amount of time to heal.

I wish you a speedy recovery. I've watched a couple of people close to me go through it and they were all like new people afterwards and I mean disposition as well as health.

My dad gets bad sciatica once in a while, he doesn't get it from lifting, but more from twisting.. weedeaters are no good for him. He also doesn't handle painkillers well so he just has to be careful.
I don't have a great back either, though it's mostly tightness.. I know I have more of that coming though... It is an occupational hazard.

Ditto on the prayers. They got two of mine today. Doc described one as a piece of bacon. Neck in still in a touch of pain but all that back tightness is already deceased.

No way I am out of the woods yet. I need to heal. But I am on my way. Lots of folks pulling for me and praying for me. I wish the very same for you.

Seems like there is no in between with back surgery. Either the results are good like yours or really bad, no inbetween.
