Automatic or manual hubs?

What are the pros and cons to manual hubs? Every 4wd I have had used automatic hubs. Looking at a used truck with a set of manuals on it.
 
Automatic hubs have came a long way but I still won't own a set. Manual hubs are stronger and you know whether it's locked or not. No guessing. Manuals are more reliable, too. The only downsides to manuals that I can think of: 1. You might get your boots muddy. 2. Ice can freeze on them, get a hammer.

I 've always had manual hubs, until I got into duelly's. Both dodges have automatic hubs. Haven't had any trouble out of either. KNOCK ON WOOD.

What year are your dodges? Most of them don't even have hubs, stub shafts turn all the time. Just have a disconnect in the pass side axle. Wife has one, not impressed.

I have two different vehicles that have manual hubs. Had a Ford with auto hubs, and they went out at a bad time (during a 12" snow last winter). Cost me about $500 to get them repaired.
Manuals are just more reliable.
 
Automatics are handy but I prefer manuals. They're more reliable and when the they're locked they're locked and vice versa
 
manual hubs are the way to go. some of the older ford automatic would just break if they saw mud.
