I just read where they sold audrey hepburns dress;from the movie (breakfast at tiffinys ) for 923,000.oo dollars ---They are going to use the money to educate 200 students in India----Now doesn't that make you wonder about the state of the world

I think that she was big on helping kids in third world countries when she was alive. I think she had a hardship growing up. Japanese are supposed to be crazy for her. I read somewhere that the men over there loved her long neck. Thought it was sexy. I think she was a pretty classy gal.

What about the news report about the kid that died because of an infection he got in his brain from letting a tooth abcess? For 80.00 his mother could have have it extracted, but she didn't have any insurance, she had lost their Medicaide and the kids brother had 6 rotted teeth she was trying to get taken care of.

I don't care how anyone feels about walfare or minorities, I say it is a shameful thing to have this happen in America. Yes, his mother should have taken care of this sooner. Yes, her kids should have had better oral hygeine. But how much did it cose taxpayers to keep this kid in hospital for 6 weeks? For the brain surgery? Only to have him die? Even if she had still has her Medicaide, I know from personal experience working with people, that finding a dentist that takes that is really hard to do. And if you don't have transportation, you are screwed.

Sorry to have hijacked your thread Carlos! I am just on my soapbox this morning. It shouldn't happen in this country.

I sure agree with you --One thing about canada we have a pretty good medical system we can go to the doctor anytime we want free of charge. Kind of a socialist system but it works and I like it

Carl, there isn't anything wrong with socialized medicine. I guess that it makes taxes higher and all, but I do believe that everyone deserves a basic level of medical and dental care. I am conservative about a lot of things, and I believe that people need to do the best they can and not rely on the government for everything, but I have known of too many people that are just stretched too thin. No one should have to choose between feeding their family, paying the rent, or sending their kids to the dentist.

I know. I have been in that boat. That mother could easily have been me at one point in my life. And I had a full time job with insurance. There just wasn't anything left over each month for emergencies. I made too little to live and too much to qualify for reduced price lunches for my sons. I know, I tried.

Its a shame.
