I just bought a used atv boom sprayer, and 2 of 4 sprayer tips are missing. The two remaining tips read Lurmark 75 (green) Lurmark 45(white). My question is what size do I need to use to spray 2-4d or Roundup. Its about 16 inches off the ground 3 gpm with a regulator. Made by Northstar, Northern Tool and Equip. Thanks for any comments.
 
Northern tool can probably answer the question and have the right tips available just call their 800 number for cust service
 
you need to know the application rate per acre for the 2-4d.
once you know that you can figure the orfice size depending on the amount of water you want to put out, your ground speed and width of boom.
there are charts that tell you all this once you know your application rate.
 
Thanks for the response. Has anyone ever used this type of sprayer with any success. I have quite a few small paddocks tha t I thought it would be quicker and eisier to get over them with an Atv.

i've used one quite a bit and they work well.
the biggest problem is drift due to the low volume pump and having to use smaller nozzles, but your 3gpm pump is a little bigger than most.
if you use the biggest nozzles that your pump will allow and watch the wind, then it will work fine.
 
I use oen and the biggest problem I have is the speed needed to get the volume down like I need it. Mine is only 8 foot wide so it takes a lot of trips.
I put in valves so I could either spray from both sides or just one or the other.
 
I've used an atv sprayer quite a bit myself. Mine's a fimco. I only use a single boomless nozzle. Sprays 12 ft wide. Don't have to worry about a boom hitting trees or other obstructions. The way I calibrate is fill the tank with just water and spray an acre and then see how many gallons of water was used. I can spray 2 acres with a tankfull- about 22-23 gallons of water.
