I came outside to enjoy the abnormally cool weather after a day of being surrounded by "mental midgets" at work. It took just a couple of minutes of porch sitting and watching the girls graze by to totally transform my outlook. It really makes me realize how richly the good Lord has blessed me and mine......blessed us with good health, good friends, good jobs and the greatest country in the world to live in and be free to worship. May God continue to bless America. Happy 4th of July a bit early!
 
When I come home this evening the cows were just across the fence at the driveway. I pulled up and stopped and just watched them for about 15 minutes. I felt good when I got home.
Good post Texas Gal and your right we are all blessed we just need to keep our priorities straight and a lot of times I don't do that. So thanks for the reminder.
 
I can relate there are days I want to pack up and move where there aint noboby or nothing to bother me, like Langtry Tx, but not too far to go get snuff and oreo's

I drove the back road (no pavement) from Langtry up to Ozona one day. Met one car the whole way. Pandale rd is a nice drive, except when Pecos River floods. Less than 20 people lived in Pandale at that time. There was a store there, dunno if there still is or not. 50 miles from Comstock--50 miles the other direction from Ozona.

Great post Texas Gal! I know exactly how you feel... the day just doesn't feel right to me if I can't go out and check on my cows. Just last night I probably sat and watched the momma cows with their newborn calves for over an hour. To me it sort of puts things into perspective.

You are correct in how blessed we are as a nation!! God Bless America! :tiphat:

I just got my few cows back home....I give em just a handful of a handout every afternoon just so they will come up to the barn and I can see em...especially nice in winter when it is dark when I get home....

when my van comes down the driveway....
Usually a donkey brays to announce my arrival...sometimes both of them....I hear it as "welcome home pop....we hungry..."

then a cow or two will bawl...
the dogs are boucning like rubber balls in the house ready to be let out to bounce all around me...

when I go to the stable the horses are already there and softly nickering....

not cheap, but as I tell the wife it is cheaper than a psychiatrist....

my problem is not mental midgets...it is a building full of people who are all smarter than me...but for some reason need my help... :cowboy: :lol:
 
I really do admire those of you who work with other people for a set amount of time every day. I could not do it. I'd have to stay bombed on prescription sedatives if I did have to do it. A humongous portion of my ability to function in society relies on my ability to decide which members of society I have to interact with.

I was beginning to think I was the strange one who gets inspiration from my cows. I am glad to know others have more than just an economic connection to their cows. I spend more time with my cows than I probably should. But they are such gentle peace loving creatures. In a world that is dominated by fouler things, I take great pleasure from my cows.
