I saw this rattlesnake in a local establishment. It was completely hand carved out of a single piece of wood. It looked very realistic. I thought Jogeephus might appreciate a snake that can't bite and that is not painted blue :lol2:

I wonder how hard it would be to rig up a doorbell that sounded like a snake rattle. I hate having unannounced visitors and I think I know how to get rid of them. :D

Had a buddy once that captured a rattlesnake and put it in a cage on his front porch. Talk about a doorbell!!!! We got him back though. We backed the jet boat up to his bedroom window and busted it off at about 3:00 in the morning. Take that, Bobby!

That's an impressive piece of art work but it begs to wonder why.

Who knows................but it is better than the paint splashing modern artists :hide:

Hoss, I will not believe that snake is carved from wood until you post a picture including the snake and yourself well within striking distance.
Then I will have no choice but to say that is the most impressive single piece of wood sculpture I've ever seen. How did he not break the tongue?

There was an idiot on the lease caught and was keeping a timber rattler while cleaning his cage thing hit him on the little finger. He lost his water and bowel's before he got 911 called after about 4 month's and thousand's in doctor bill's he can almost use his hand again.

You can't fix stupid.

As to the why of art -- there is some guy who carves quilts, jackets, hats and boots from wood. Why I do not know, but the stuff looks real enough to wear/put on a bed...

I got on one yesterday afternoon that looked a lot like that. With these cool temps and all the rain we are getting they are on the move.

A guy here had a taxidermist stuff one for him and he installed a spring in the upper portion so the head could move. It was coiled. He put it in his tool box and asked a fella to get something from the box for him. When he opened the box the snake rose up and before the laughter could subside there was a big fist fight in the gravel.

When I took this picture I was within striking distance but the snake acted a bit stiff and slow
This was in the lobby of a BBQ / Steak house. A brass plaque on the display stand said it was carved from a single piece of wood by a local guy. I didn't eyeball it close enough to see if the single piece of wood claim was true. I don't know if the tongue was included in that statement or not. I would think he would almost have to have carved that separately. I thought it was pretty impressive and I bet it took along time to do all that detail.
