Artificial Insemination

Help Support CattleToday:

The Angus page (http://www.angus.org) has links to the major semen companies. Click on "Industry Links", then "AI/ET Organizations". Many of those companies run AI schools. You could find the rep in your area and see if there's a school scheduled. If there's an ag university near you, sometimes they also run schools. I think AI is the best way to improve your cow herd quickly. Good luck..
: How do I find out about the AI process? IE, where to get seman, how it's performed, equipment needed

How would I do it if I wanted to do it myself at home if I have a donor without a Dr. involved to actually do the proceedure?

You would need to go to an AI school or work with someone doing AI. It's fairly complicated and unless you do everything right you conception rate will be very low. To save money I think it's best if you do your own heat detecting and hire an expert to do the inseminating.
