Army worms

Help Support CattleToday:

Thanks.....good info here about a devastating problem.
I usually walk and study the pastures with sunlight is why I probably didn't see the moths.
I'll have to remember to research dimlin too.
I heard the other day one way to tell about how many you have is to cut the bottom out of a gallon can or bucket, push it into the ground some, then fill it party with soapy water and the worms under the ground will float to the top along with the others.
But if you can see enough, spray!

Fence I haven't tried it yet bc I consider I'm not sure it will work but I read somewhere that 2 oz/AC of swimming pool shock treatment will smoke armyworms. Idk? I'be been using Baythroid and Dimlin. This year I needed more residual on my last cutting so I used Intrepid. I used to use Lannate. It would kill them before you made the next through but I spray on an open cab and you have to be very careful. Not sure you can buy it anymore. Again idk?
