A quick tip for those that are interested. Found this out today: when taking off the butt for whatever reason, there is a little spring (1/2mm x 15mm or so) and detent device that holds the rear takedown pin intact. It keeps the pin from falling all the way out.
The spring and detent are held in by the plate on the threaded section of the butt. It's so small that when it falls out chances are you wont even notice it. spending the next 3 hours on your hands and knees with a flashlight looking everywhere, taking sliding glass doors off the tracks just in case it bounced there, Only to find the spring stuck to your shoe lace after you gave up searching, ordering a full spring lot off some obscure website for 20 bucks.

Hope this helps someone
