I noticed in another thread that some speak highly of Saber for fly control. Some mentioned as a pour-on, and one mentioned applying it in the field with a hose-fed syringe without a needle. I'm not familiar with pour on methods. What part of the body is it applied to, and could it be applied with a water gun in the field with gentle cows.
Are there various kinds? Are there types that one pours on directly, and types to be diluted and put on rubbers, or are they all the same?
Most "pour-on" types are meant to be poured on, along the topline of the animal. I start between the ears and go all along down to the top of the tail.
Out in a field with a "squirt" typ of device can work fairly well if the animals are gentle enough that they won't run off. I have a few that I can just walk up to them and pour it on. I have a few more where I need to "shoot" it on them (if I use the 'out-in-the-field' method.)
Yes there are various kinds. There are the ready-to-go direct pour-ons and then there are some that are diluted, usually with diesel, that are soaked into long fabric "rubs" that are about 6 or so feet long that you can tie between posts or trees, etc. and they rub on them. Then there are "bullets" that are similar to the long rubs except they are about a foot or so in length and they are hung from mineral feeders, or lined up alon a low branch or pole for them to rub on. Those are great for applying to the face.
I hope this helped.
