So...mother's day is coming up in a matter of days (two in fact), and I'm curious as to what everyone's doing for their Moms on Mother's Day?

As for me, nothin special really, except maybe help her out a bit more than usual with things, and make her something... :D

Over here we have Mothers day in March, so ours has gone and I had a good one, I remember when in the States this time last year I had two Mothers Day. That was cool.

Congratulations to anyone who has a living mother. Give her a hug and enjoy her.

You are so right. I call my parents almost daily and try to "soak up" as much of them as I can when I am with them.

First, my mother has been gone a very long time...and I wish every day I had her back.

Ok...now, I'm gonna be the grinch.

I look at Mother's Day the same way that I look at Father's Day, Valentine's Day, Secretary's Day, etc. It's simply a way for the florists and Hallmark, and restaurants to make bunches of money.

Mom and dad and honey and sweetie and secretary, etc. need to be treated as the best in the world 24/7...not one day out of the year.

Someone asked my daughter what she was gonna do for me for mother's day. She told whomever, "Mom thinks Mother's Day is a crock." Bless her sweet heart... :)

I'm truly sorry. I feel the same about others that are gone, but I'm fortunate enough to still have my Mother.

At last we see eye to eye on something! Couldn't have said it better myself.

My wife says the same thing, but I know deep down she likes the extra attention. Maybe I'll buy her a card this year. ;-)

aw alice, you could never be a grinch no matter how hard you tried. :P

you are so very right. just anyway to get the money outta ya, there gonna do it. my mom and dad get something outta me everyday. no matter if its just a good grade on a test or something they really wanted. and having my mom be a secretary at my school, i see everyday the stress they go through. remember to always be kind to the secretary no matter where your at or how rude they are, they go through alot!

I bought my Mom an orchid for church. I'm sure the advetising agencies would prefer me to buy something more expensive but Mom likes flowers and an orchid looks good on her in church. The added bonus for Mom is that it opens the door for her to brag about her grandkids.

Now that I could go along with...that is a wonderful idea!

I get really into Mother's Day (:P Alice, ). I was shopping yesterday. Mother's Day always means a yellow mum potted plant. She always got one for gramma and the tradition carries on. I also got her an I Love Lucy DVD set. Today I will clean her house and then tomorrow my husband and I will take her for lunch. Then go back to her place and play some board games. Dinner will be some lasagna I will make tonight.
I got a red rose to put in my bathroom yesterday when I was shopping for Mom. Told my husband it was Happy Mother's Day from the dog.

That's lovely, Victoria...traditions especially. :) I like the rose from the dog idea, too.

When my aunt was in the nursing the place was filled with flowers from residents' children...didn't see the children anywhere...or that was the only day you saw the children.

It was also the same as every other day for the children that came to visit their mother's regularly. :)

Alice, that is what bugs me is when people use Mother's Day as the one day you have to send Mom something or see her and you ignore her the rest of the year. That is just wrong and plain sad.

i would just like to wish all of you a happy and safe Mothers Day! hope yall have a great one !

well my mother and father are both gone but i have alotta great memories of both of them.

i did get my sweetie a card, a lillie and a baby goat tho. :D i coulda got her some fresh cut flowers but i figure the lillie can be planted and enjoyed for years. she had a baby nanny goat and needed a billy to go with her. i came across one Wednesday and figured that is just what she needed. even tho they can be a pain they put a smile on her face and that is what counts to me. :D

if the card folks and florist think they gonna make a killin off me they wrong. some may call it being tight but i believe in giving lasting things not things that will be tossed out in a few days. i also believe in showing folks every day how much i think of them i dont just wait until a Holiday to show them.

my mother always said this, "If you are going someone flowers, give them to the person while they are alive, dont wait until they are dead to send flowers."

We lost mom on Mothers Day 18 years ago. Her favorite flower was a Rhodenroum (sp). I have a huge Rhodie in my front yard that is always blooming this time of the year. So I will do what I have been doing for years now. I will cut some flowers off and take them to her grave.
I do wish I had taken the time to take her more flowers when she was alive.

Mom will get the now traditional hanging basket. And a hug.

Yes. The hanging basket was my gift of choice for my mom. We also took Mom and Dad out for lunch.
