I was wondering if anyone has used bio solids on their pasture with what type of result? How much did you use? I am told some people do 2 applications a year of about 600lbs per acer. I can get this hauled to my farm for $55 per ton and then I would have to spread it.

Before you get to thinking much about it realize that you have to have a permit that may take a long time to get. Most places here it is free and some they will even pay you to let them apply it.

its alot of usage here but mostly on row crops we dont use it ..i honestly see fields it was used on and didnt do anything.

The city charges for it here. They will spread. The city of Houston will deliver and spread free with a 1500 hundred acre minimum.
It is not like using NPK as far as results. It works well on pastures giving better water holding capabilities and adding trace elements.
It works much better on hay fields and old crop fields as it helps put back organics robbed over time. It allows The high dollar NPK to work better, more efficiently.

I have been permitted for 5 years but just started receiving this year. They ran out of land that is closer to the plant so delivering to me now. Most of my pasture is bermudagrass. I am planning on drilling small grain/ ryegrass into it this fall. Not sure if I will need any additional fertilizer or if none needed where biosolids were put out? This is a liquid sludge type. They are putting out 2 tanker truck loads / acre. Lots of organic matter. Smell surprisingly not bad - kinda like branding cattle smell. They will be elsewhere in Sept but back here late fall. I am not sure how much damage running the trucks over the pasture will cause if the winter pasture is 4 weeks or so old? Any comments from someone with experience?
