has any of you ever used the land of lakes limiting feed. I have had some people who use what I use have some of the same problems happen(long toes on bulls) with the purina accuration. I have tinkered with feed rations and the growth and scan data appears that the feed is working. I am always looking for the best mousetrap. I wish it had distillers grain in the feed. I think a heavy dose of the corn isn't being digested fully. Have any of you tried the Land of Lakes feed. this is for bulls that are on test(6 mo-1 year) I don't want them on such a hot ration that they can't function when taken off feed and hay.

The "manufactured" feeds you speak of are so expensive. I have just developed my own custom mixes based on what I need at the time. Our Co-op is outstanding when it comes to answering questions and assisting in building these mixes. Much, much cheaper too. I have had the most success with growing and finishing our butcher beef with a 70% cracked corn ration, I use sunflower pellets, feedlot 40-20 / R-400 and a dab of mollasses. That gives 3 different sources of protein. They just eat the heck out of it!! With our show calves I replace the sunflower pellets with (extruded) Soybean meal.

with all that hot feed though, you need a lot of good hay....roughage. The roughage will aid in the digestion and keep their bellies feeling good. If not.....all that good corn...will be left on the ground, un~digested / not utilized in a nice steaming pile. [/quote]

We are using it with our show heifers in a creep feeder. It is adding weight well. Did have 1 heifer develop problems with fluid on her joints - vet said too much protein. All others doing well. Will pull heifers off at breeding age. will not give it to heifers in last trimester.
