Anybody besides me find it odd, that this oil well that has been belching oil into the gulf for months, seems to have been seemingly shut off by unbolting and removing the bent pipe at the flange then replacing it with a cap at the flange?

That's those rocket scientists at work. The ones at BP and the even smarter ones in Washington. :dunce:

From what was said there was a lot more to it than that. and the pressure had to be sustained before capping as it would just leak from somewhere else. But please don't blame all of use Brits for it. :cry2:

I think it is odd that throughout this whole thing, gas didn't go up significantly. Back two summers ago, when gas was four and five dollars a gallon, it was blamed on a refinery explosion and the issues coming out of that. I dare say we lost a lot more production this time. I guess it doesn't matter how much oil you have if you can't refine it.

Anyway, I think it's odd. Seemed like the perfect excuse for all the oil companies to raise prices and it just didn't seem to happen. Not that I'm complaining...

I just hope this lastes thing works. Those people who make their livings on the gulf coase fishing and processing really took a hit. And they don't all strike me as people who are satisfied to sit back and ask for a handout. They want to work.

I did see a young woman being interviewed about six weeks ago who had lost her job shucking oysters. She was complaining about how she was going to make ends meet, and I could not help but notice that her nails were professionally manicured and she had a laptop with the internet there in her home.

I don't know about yall, but when finances got tough for me, back when I was single, we didn't have internet or cable, and I dang sure wasn't spending the twenty dollars a week it takes to get my nails done. I have folks coming into the library every day we are open to use the internet to look for jobs. It's a public access thing and we don't charge for it. We also filter out myspace and facebook and all that nonsense, since we are in a school. I can assist people in using a library code to get onto craigslist, but that's about it.

I still don't get my nails done. It was a phase...

Don't worry sweetheart, no rational thinking person would blame the British people for that mess. Our crooks are just as greedy as yours, truth be known there is plenty of blame to go around. If there are those that say unkind things and I'm sure they will, just ignore it. Just remember that there is a fat old man in the center of the U.S. that thinks chrisy rocks  .

Kinda had the same thought myself. Another thought is how big that well is, not many produce like it has been.
jed a number of those deep water offshore wells are capable of 200K barrels per day. But they're in deep water and that's where the risks go up.
