Does anyone know of a way to get rid of those lil ants in the house this time of year?

Gail, can you find where they're coming in???? If so put down some of that diatomaceous earth there. Will kill those that touch it. Course then they'll probalby just go find another way in. Good luck.

We treat the yard with daizanon (sp?) and then spray around the windowsills if they are still getting in. I had fire ants in the house one year when we lived in student housing and had to have a pest control guy come out to treat the yard and house.

This is gonna sound weird, but it worked for me. Save up old coffee grounds and sprinkle around your foundation. Kept them out. Had to use the Taro stuff to get rid of the ones that had come in the house.

if you can find their nest pour boiling water down the hole, that will kill the nest off. Otherwise I find cat/dog flea spray kills them in the house without hurting the pets.

Ants hate peppermint and will not cross it. Plant peppermint around your house and/or used 10 drops of peppermint essential oil in a spray bottle of water and spray down where they enter the house. Cinammon can also work.

Since the ants are already in the house the best solution is to get some ant bait stations. The bait will draw them out of the walls and be more thorough in the overall kill than spraying them. I will take a little longer, but will be worth it. Do not spray them if you decide to use a bait. Remember, spraying will do a quick kill and set up a repellant while bait is used to entice them. Bait and repellant counteract each other.
